It’s Friday…But Sunday’s Comin’!

Happy Friday everyone!

This is the last week to register for Vacation Bible School! Please register online. Feel free to forward this link to friends or family who may also be interested in attending. If you have any questions, please contact Meredith LaBonte.

We’re a little more than half-way to our goal of 50 pairs of shoes for our shoe drive for International Christian Adoptions. All children’s sizes are needed. We’ll continue to collect shoes until we have reached our goal! If you have any questions, please contact Mike DeWit.

Last week, I asked you to pray for Izzy Avila’s dad. Here’s the latest update from Izzy: “We received the results from the bone marrow, which was to identify why my father’s blood platelet level was low. It was negative – nothing cancerous, as was the concern. In order to boost his platelet count, they are giving him steroid or cortizone type injections. He is doing as expected, progressing slowly but surely. Thank you again for your prayers!”

This last week was our denomination’s General Assembly, the yearly meeting of our church to take up issues of national concern. One of the “hot issues” this year was a personal resolution from two pastors asking our denomination to repent of our corporate sin in not supporting the efforts of the 1960s and 1970s toward Civil Rights and of our sin in actively resisting racial reconciliation then and now. Discussions around the issue lasted through the entire week and concluded late last night with a vote to send the Resolution to the presbyteries (the regional assemblies of the church) for further work, so that an even better resolution can be voted on at next year’s Assembly. After the vote, many men stayed in the assembly hall confessing their own personal sin related to this issue and engaging in a time of prayer for one another and for our church. I regret that I was not there to participate in and witness such an important occasion in the history of our church. Please take a moment to read the Resolution on Civil Rights Remembrance, which will be taken up again at the 2016 General Assembly.

I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday!

In Christ,
Eric Landry
