OUR ELDERS

 

 

Rev. Sam Hogan, Senior Pastor

Reverend Sam Hogan was installed as CPC’s senior pastor in 2024. A 2009 graduate of Covenant College, Sam received his Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Reformed Theological Seminary Atlanta in 2015, and was ordained in the PCA as a Teaching Elder in 2016. Prior to accepting the call to CPC, he served with Mission to the World (MTW) in Sweden and Bulgaria, spent three years as a Youth Pastor in Delaware and six years as Associate Pastor in Georgia. He is married and has two daughters.

 

Lew Castle, Ruling Elder

Lew was ordained as one of our first elders at CPC in 2009. He is a native of California and is a retired firefighter. Lew and his wife, Barbara, have two adult children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

 

Mike DeWit, Ruling Elder

Mike was ordained as one of our first elders at CPC in 2009. He lives in Hemet with his wife, Kristin, and their two children. Mike received a Masters of Theological Studies from Westminster Seminary California.

 

Izzy Avila, Ruling Elder

Izzy was ordained as an elder in 2019. He and his wife have three adult sons and three grandchildren. Izzy is retired from the U.S. Navy. He served as a deacon in a sister church and at CPC.

 

Drew Oliver, Ruling Elder

Drew was ordained as an elder in 2025. He received his Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Westminster Seminary California in 2019. He lives in Murrieta with his wife and their children.

 

Gene Rivera, Ruling Elder

Gene was ordained as an elder in 2025. He was born and raised in Southern California and works as an software architect and consultant. Gene and his wife, Julie, live in Murrieta and have four adult children.

 

Tim Padilla, Ruling Elder

Tim was ordained as an elder in 2025.

 

OUR DEACONS

 

 

Dennis Kabuye, Deacon

Dennis was ordained as a deacon in 2019. He grew up in Southern California and has been married to his wife for 14 years. Together, they live in Menifee with their four children and are joyfully awaiting the arrival of their fifth in April of 2026.

 

Daniel Vazzana, Deacon

Daniel was ordained as a deacon in 2019. He was born and raised in Southern California and works as a Program Management Director.  He and his wife, Lisa, have been married for 26 years and live in Temecula.  They have four children (three adults and one in high school) and have attended CPC since its founding in 2005.

 

Ed Madrid, Deacon

Ed was ordained as a deacon in 2019. He’s been married to Susan for 41 years and they reside on 2.76 acres in Aguanga with an assortment of horses, chickens, rabbits, sheep, dogs, and gophers. Ed enjoys motorcycles, landscaping, and time with Susan. He is a contractor with an established clientele in Rancho Santa Fe managing large properties with home repair projects, but hopes to retire soon to make new animal friends.
