CloseRev. Dan Warne -
To Him Who Consecrates Us (Revelation 1:5-6)
Finishing Revelation 1:5-6, we move from the fact that Jesus set us free to the fact that we don’t always love what He has set us free to do. Tying into the Old Testament and Israel’s rocky start as God’s holy nation, and how the hard calling of being a kingdom and priests relates to the real life struggles revealed in Revelation, we see how Jesus gives hope in our struggle to love the high calling of being a Christian.

Doxology isn’t a word you often bump into outside of a worship service. It’s a Greek word that roughly translates as “a word of glory” or “glory speak,” and often shows up in a very formal, even liturgical way in the New Testament. But these doxologies are anything but formal, dead rituals or just something we can go through the motions reading. They are explosions of praise born of deep reflection on glorious truths about God and His grace to us in Jesus.
