CloseRev. Robert Recio -
Woes, Warnings, and Weepings (Matthew 23:13-39)
In Matthew 23:13-39, Jesus pronounces seven “woes” against the scribes and Pharisees—warnings that speak to their failure in leadership over Israel. Though a particular message delivered to a particular people, there is so much for all of us, who like many in that day, seek to be faithful to God while living as pilgrims in a strange land. This passage reminds us of the greatness of our need as recovering Pharisees and the even better provision of God in Christ.
