The Wise Life is the Praying Life (James 5:13-20)
James concludes with the message that the wise life is the praying life, casting prayer in the category of wisdom because to pray is to confront our own propensity to be self-reliant and independent of our need of God. Praying reminds us that we are not in control and need to cling to the righteousness of Jesus. In the end, the wise life is the praying life because in prayer we come to know who God is, and in turn, ourselves as we are in him.
