CloseRev. Dan Warne -
To Him Who Keeps Us (Jude 24-25)
In our third sermon in our Doxology series, we turn to the ending verses of the Letter of Jude (Jude 24-25) where Jude addresses what he calls attacks on “the most holy faith”. Particularly, not attacks from outside the church but attacks from within the church; people claiming the name of Jesus but corrupting the gospel message. Jude calls the church to contend for the faith from a posture of humility, recognizing we are all prone to wander from the gospel. God’s patient grace that keeps us close to the truth till the end is worth breaking into doxology over, speaking a word of glory and praise to God.
From Series: "Doxology"
Doxology isn’t a word you often bump into outside of a worship service. It’s a Greek word that roughly translates as “a word of glory” or “glory speak,” and often shows up in a very formal, even liturgical way in the New Testament. But these doxologies are anything but formal, dead rituals or just something we can go through the motions reading. They are explosions of praise born of deep reflection on glorious truths about God and His grace to us in Jesus.
