CloseRev. Robert Recio -
Who is Testing Whom? (Matthew 22:15-22)
One of Jesus’ more well-known phrases is when he takes a Roman coin and says, “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what belongs to God.” This passage shows the absolute brilliance of Jesus who refuses to have his kingdom shaped by the authorities of the age while calling us to the demands of his better kingdom. Even in this familiar passage we see how Jesus is more than a brilliant teacher. He is the Savior who first fulfills and accomplishes Himself what is demanded of us.
