CloseRev. Robert Recio -
Where is Your Treasure? (James 5:1-6)
Throughout Scripture, money is presented as the most compelling rival to God because it offers power, control, identity, comfort, and pleasure in a way that really no other idol does. James, echoing his brother Jesus, insists that we need to ask the question where is our treasure found? In this warning passage, we are confronted with the destructiveness of pursuing earthly treasure and our need to find our treasure instead in the one who so treasures us that he purchased us at the cost of his own life.
