CloseRev. Robert Recio -
Despised and Rejected (Matthew 26:31-35, 47-56, 69-75; 27:3-10)
In this week’s passages, Jesus is betrayed by Judas, denied by Peter, and abandoned by everybody else. What makes this story so powerful aren’t just the themes of righteousness and wickedness, betrayal and courage, or despair and mercy. It that these failed disciples reflect back our own wandering hearts and capacity for unbelief, which remind us our utter need of Christ’s mercy and grace found on his unwavering love and faithfulness.
