Our fourth core value, Gospel Shepherding, reminds us that the Gospel creates not only a community, but a culture. In 2 Corinthians 4, Paul unpacks what this culture looks like and why it is counter to the dominant culture. We’ll see three themes of Gospel culture that are not easy to hear, harder to live by, but are central to the good, joyful, and loving life to which we are called; a culture of mercy, a culture of strength in weakness, and a culture of a sure and certain hope.
The Gospel continues to not only provide for us a core identity but also forms us into a people who bear witness to the glory and goodness of Jesus through the message we proclaim and the lives that we live by God’s power as we exhibit this other-worldly reality to one another and to the world. In this new series, we will seek to recapture the joy and live out of the power of Jesus’ work for sinners (for you and me!) that is announced in the Gospel. Based on our five core values here at CPC, we will explore how the Gospel of Jesus Christ changes everything about our lives our relationships and the world.
