CloseRev. Robert Recio -
Jesus on Trial (Matthew 26:57-68; 27:11-26)
In this Sunday’s passages, Jesus is put on trial. The righteous judge of all creation not only will undergo the judgment for sin that we deserve, but he allows himself to be judged by sinners. Jesus stands before the high priest, Pontius Pilate (and the crowds) and through these accusations and indictments against him, we see the tables slowly turn, revealing that all along we are the ones that are on trial. From the original accusers to modern day readers we are confronted with who Jesus is and the response he demands.
