It’s (Good) Friday, but Sunday’s Comin!

Happy (Good) Friday, everyone!

If you’ve ever wondered about the name of this weekly email newsletter, it comes from a remarkable sermon titled, “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’!” by the Rev. Dr. S. M. Lockridge. Spending a few minutes listening to this sermon is a good way to spend Good Friday. I commend it to you.

This Sunday is our annual Lessons and Songs Easter service where we tell the story of Jesus’ betrayal, crucifixion, death, and resurrection from the Gospels and Psalms. This service is patterned after our Christmas “Lessons and Carols” service. (As with that service, our nursery will be open, but it will not be staffed.) If you have unbelieving friends or family members who are considering the claims of Christ, be sure to invite them to see how the Psalms prophesied of the Messiah to come. As in previous years, if you are interested in donating Easter lilies to the service, please bring them no later than 10:15 am for placement on the stage.

This Sunday is the last Sunday to bring in food from the following list for our food drive to benefit Olive Branch Ministries in San Jacinto: Canned meats, beans, stew, chili, soup, broth, vegetables, fruit, pasta, rice, instant potatoes, dried milk, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, healthy snacks, boxed juice, condiments, toiletries (wipes, travel size shampoo, soap, individually wrapped toilet paper, toothpaste/brush etc.).

Please remember to help with our regular outreach at Mision Vida Nueva in Escondido on April 9th. If you are planning to attend or need more information, please speak with Erik O’Dell who is coordinating our activities there.

Have a great weekend!

In Christ,

Eric Landry
