It’s Friday…But Sunday’s Comin’!

Happy Friday everyone!

Our church picnic is THIS Sunday, August 2nd at Ronald Reagan Sports Park, immediately after the worship service. Bring your own lunch and plan to spend part of the afternoon getting to know one another. Make a special effort to find someone you do not already know! This would also be a great opportunity for you to invite someone to church and lunch afterward.

Thank you for praying this week for Josh Gunnerson and Greg Hammond. As we get any news on their recovery, we will pass it along. Gary and Susan Gunnerson are grateful for your prayers. Stephanie Hammond is also grateful for your prayers. We’ll have an opportunity to provide some meals to the Hammonds as soon as Greg is released from the hospital.

I also received word today that Tiffany Gaines’ father died in his sleep last night. Please keep Steve and Tiffany and their family, especially Tiffany’s mom, in prayer during these difficult days.

Here are several other prayer requests for people in and around our church:

-Please pray for those in our church who do not have work or do not have enough work to make ends meet for their families. This is a difficult situation that several of you have been in or continue to be in. As days and weeks without a job or a job that can pay your bills turn into months and years, a certain kind of despair sets in. Please pray that those who are in this situation will trust God to provide for them even while they search for work.

-Please pray that our church would make wise decisions for the future. As our congregation grows, our needs multiply and our opportunities for ministry in our community increase. Please pray that the session would know how best to lead and guide the church. Pray, too, that God would give you opportunities to share the good news of Christ’s work on the cross in both word and deed.

-Please pray for people in our church who are struggling against sin…that’s pretty much all of us! Pray that we would fight the good fight, that we would walk in obedience to the Lord, that we would serve God and neighbor before serving ourselves. Pray that we would believe the Resurrection truth about ourselves and that we would act in accordance with that belief.

Have a great weekend! I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.

In Christ,
Eric Landry
