Answering Objections to the Resurrection

In this morning’s sermon, I mentioned that there are still skeptics who like to cast doubt on the central claim of Christianity: that Jesus rose again from the dead. This short article from Modern Reformation magazine, answers 7 of the most common objections.

Answering Objections to the Resurrection

RUF at the University of California, Irvine ——— The Brewers

Guess who is now a recognized student ministry at UCI?

The Lord opened the doors for us to find 3 students committed to RUF to lead us through the registration process. The university accepted our new student group proposal one week before the deadline ended for the year.

Thank you for your prayers!

Saturday, April 16th
7:00 to 8:30 PM
at
UC Irvine

Please be praying for our big fundraising event in April. We have approximately 65-70% of our support raised. Here are 3 ways you can pray and help us:

1) Come to our event!
2) Do you know of anyone who loes UCI or RUF or who has been impacted by campus ministry that we can invite?
3) Pray that we can find a matching donor.

It’s (Good) Friday, but Sunday’s Comin!

Happy (Good) Friday, everyone!

If you’ve ever wondered about the name of this weekly email newsletter, it comes from a remarkable sermon titled, “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’!” by the Rev. Dr. S. M. Lockridge. Spending a few minutes listening to this sermon is a good way to spend Good Friday. I commend it to you.

This Sunday is our annual Lessons and Songs Easter service where we tell the story of Jesus’ betrayal, crucifixion, death, and resurrection from the Gospels and Psalms. This service is patterned after our Christmas “Lessons and Carols” service. (As with that service, our nursery will be open, but it will not be staffed.) If you have unbelieving friends or family members who are considering the claims of Christ, be sure to invite them to see how the Psalms prophesied of the Messiah to come. As in previous years, if you are interested in donating Easter lilies to the service, please bring them no later than 10:15 am for placement on the stage.

This Sunday is the last Sunday to bring in food from the following list for our food drive to benefit Olive Branch Ministries in San Jacinto: Canned meats, beans, stew, chili, soup, broth, vegetables, fruit, pasta, rice, instant potatoes, dried milk, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, healthy snacks, boxed juice, condiments, toiletries (wipes, travel size shampoo, soap, individually wrapped toilet paper, toothpaste/brush etc.).

Please remember to help with our regular outreach at Mision Vida Nueva in Escondido on April 9th. If you are planning to attend or need more information, please speak with Erik O’Dell who is coordinating our activities there.

Have a great weekend!

In Christ,

Eric Landry

It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Guys, can you help Dave Merchant load a moving pod tomorrow (Saturday, March 19th) at 8AM? If so, please gather at 38160 Camarada Lane in Murrieta. This is a load move only, so it should be fairly quick and will be a huge help to Dave and his family as they transition to North Carolina.

Please bring something on Sunday from the following list for our food drive to benefit Olive Branch Ministries in San Jacinto: Canned meats, beans, stew, chili, soup, broth, vegetables, fruit, pasta, rice, instant potatoes, dried milk, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, healthy snacks, boxed juice, condiments, toiletries (wipes, travel size shampoo, soap, individually wrapped toilet paper, toothpaste/brush etc.).

This Sunday, immediately after the worship service, there will be a formal congregational meeting for the purpose of “dissolving” my call as the pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in anticipation of my move to Texas this summer. Everyone is welcome to attend, but we especially ask our formal members to participate in this brief meeting.

Please begin planning now to help with our regular outreach at Mision Vida Nueva in Escondido on April 9th. If you are planning to attend or need more information, please speak with Erik O’Dell who is coordinating our activities there.

Have a great weekend!

Eric Landry

It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Please remember to “spring forward” this Saturday night. Set your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed on Saturday.

This Sunday is our Neighborhood Group Launch Sunday. You should have received an email from your neighborhood group leader by now. If you have not or if you need more information, please contact Pastor Robert.

Ladies, if you want to attend Transformed, the PCA’s Women’s Conference on April 23, today is the LAST day to get the early bird price of $50.  Click here for more details and to register.  If you have any questions, please contact Cassie Recio, Crystal Moran, or Sue Weaver.

Guys, if you can help Dave Merchant load a moving pod on Saturday, March 19th at 8AM, please let us know. It should be fairly quick and will be a huge help to Dave and his family as they transition to North Carolina.

Thanks to all of you who have given Sarah and me your expressions of love and support after our announcement last Sunday. Although leaving Christ Presbyterian is unbearably hard, we are so grateful for the work that God has done in and through the church. We are confident for your future and we covet your prayers for our move this summer to Texas.

Have a great weekend! I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.

In Christ,

Eric Landry

It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’!

Happy Friday, everyone!

I have four “M”‘s for you today:

First, a move: Please plan on helping Sam and Zsuzsi Khoury move tomorrow. We’re gathering at 8:15 am at a self-storage unit at 25086 Jefferson Avenue. After loading, we’ll unload the truck at the Khourys news home at 24010 Ristras Lane in Murrieta. This should be a quick move and the more people are there to help, the quicker it will go! GUYS: the men’s study is canceled so that we can help with the move.

Second, our missions committee is meeting on Sunday morning at 10:00 in the classroom down the hall from the auditorium. Please join us for prayer and an update on Olive Branch Ministries, which will be our focus for the month of March. Also look for updated prayer requests from our missionaries on the bulletin table.

Third, our new mercy committee will be taking a collection for the food pantry at Olive Branch Ministries every Sunday during the month of March. Pastor Seth has requested gas cards, food gift cards, canned foods, boxed goods, and hygiene products. Here is a list of canned food items that will be good for the food pantry: chicken, beef, tuna, ham, stew, chili, soup, peanut butter, almond butter, nuts, beans, vegetables, diced tomato, tomato sauce, pasta sauce, fruit, baby foods, condiments, vegetable oil, stuffing, instant potatoes, pasta, rice, grains, oatmeal, dried fruit, healthy snacks for kids, boxed juice, dried milk, wipes, diapers, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, ibuprofen, Tylenol. No perishables, no sugary foods, smaller quantities are best, pop-top lids are great for the homeless.

Fourth, please plan on staying after church for a brief meeting to talk about a few important changes in the life of our church. Members and guests are encouraged to remain in the auditorium after the benediction for a brief announcement. The nursery workers will keep the younger children until we conclude.

Have a great weekend! I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.

In Christ,

Eric Landry
